Los Angeles cosmetic dentist Dr. Joseph Marvizi read SGM's press release outlining the study. Coconut oil has antibiotic properties that keep oral bacteria at bay, reducing patients' need for fillings and dental implants.
Bacteria are naturally found in the mouth, including Streptococcus strains like Streptococcus mutans. S. mutans creates acids that break down tooth enamel and cause decay, says Marvizi, dentist in Long beach CA. Researchers examined raw coconut oil and enzyme altered coconut oil against common oral bacteria. Altered coconut oil imitates how oils react with digestion. Results showed that the enzyme altered oil inhibited the production of many common Streptococcus strains. Researchers followed a comparable study where enzyme-altered milk restricted S. mutans from bonding to dental enamel.
"Our research has shown that digested milk protein not only reduced the adherence of harmful bacteria to human intestinal cells but also prevented some of them from gaining entrance into the cell," head researcher Dr. Damien Brady says. "We are currently researching coconut oil and other enzyme-modified foodstuffs to identify how they interfere with the way bacteria cause illness and disease."
Brady and his team are encouraging the use of coconut oil in oral health products to further strengthen and protect teeth. Brady says cavities are frequently disregarded, even though they affect 60-90 percent of patients in developed countries. Digested coconut oil could help reduce cavities.

Southwestern College To Offer Advanced Infant Mental Health Certificate
(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 26, 2012 ) SANTA FE, NM -- They may be too young to voice their concerns, but prevailing wisdom indicates mental health issues that present in infants can cause expensive or even dangerous problems later in life. However, by treating early, it is possible to prevent the negative side effects from infant attachment and trauma. It is with prevention in mind that Southwestern College in Santa Fe is crafting an advanced certificate program for Infant Mental Health.
Infant Mental Health is a burgeoning field and one that has gained extensive attention internationally, nationally and statewide in New Mexico. The study and the direct application of decades of research form the basis for a series of advanced clinical seminars that will be offered through the college. In these sessions, participants will learn about infant mental health, and the science and research regarding assessment and intervention formulations. The lectures will build on the foundations of infant mental health to explore evaluation and treatment approaches that address infant disorders and dyadic dysfunction.
To offer this series of lectures the school has been working with Infant Mental Health experts Deborah Harris and Jane Clarke. They have also been coordinating with Soledad Martinez from the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department. The goal is to have a partially state-funded program for training available through the college, as well as a certificate-granting curriculum in the field. Southwestern College is co-sponsoring this series with the NM Children, Youth and Families Department, Optum Health, and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation and Training.
The seminars that are planned will address many of the New Mexico Association for Infant Mental Health competencies, and include such topics as Attachment, Meaning-Making, Caregiver-Child Dyadic Interaction, Parental Appreciation of Infant Mental States, The Neurobiology of Trauma, Developmentally-Informed Interventions as well as other topics. The classes will take place over four extended weekends in 2013 from January through April. Participants are expected to attend the entire series and applications are required as space will be limited. Scholarship opportunities are available, with a discounted rate available to those who do not qualify for full scholarship.
Successful completion of the series will earn attendees an Advanced Clinical Certificate in Infant Mental Health. Google Stocks Tumble Courtesy of Early Earnings reports Ranked Results
(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 26, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- Bad news yesterday for stockholders of Google Inc., the worlds largest search engine. Google (GOOG) stocks took a steep turn for the worse yesterday as poor third quarter earning were announced, which occurred several hours earlier than expected. The report hit the market while trading was still open and the bad news caused Google shares to drop by 9% before trading was halted.
A press release by Google said that its financial printer, R.R. Donnelley & Sons, had filed the report without authorization from the search giant. R.R. Donnelley has not yet made a comment about the premature release.
According to the report, net income for Google shrank 20% last quarter, after being weighed down by expenses taken on by acquiring Motorola for $527 million earlier this year. In addition to the new expenses, advertisement revenue prices dropped even while Googles search engine continues to gain in popularity.
The third quarter report showed that though the rate of paid clicks for paid ads increased by 33% compared to last year, the average price commanded by Google per-click dropped by 15%. The lower prices are blamed on a shift toward mobile internet-usage, via smartphones and tablets as opposed to traditional desktop searches. Google Mobile Ads are priced noticeably lower than their PC counterparts.
Other, non-industry-related issues, such as global currency fluctuations, were also cited as causes of lower-than-expected earnings during a conference call held later in the day by Larry Page, Google Chief Executive. The CEO expressed that he is really happy with our business, despite the scramble earlier today, which he apologized for.
Even with the one-day tumble, Google stock prices are still performing well, up over 6% this year. Third quarter profits posted at $2.18 billion, down from $2.73 billion from last year. Net revenue for the ubiquitous internet company amounted to $11.86 billion, about $500 million under forecasted expectations.

Google Informs 'Nearly All' Penalized Websites via Employee reports Ranked Results

Matt Cutts, head of Googles web-spam team, says that almost every website that is penalized in the companys search engine results will learn about it via a Google employee.
Weve actually started to send messages for pretty much every manual action that we do that will directly impact the ranking of your site, Cutts said, at the 2012 Pubcon conference this last week, held in Las Vegas.
If theres some manual action taken by the manual web spam team that means your web site is going to rank directly lower in the search results, were telling webmasters about pretty much about all of those situations.
Cutts said that an occasional case might be reported to the website, but that the intent is to get to 100%, and as far as I know, were actually there.
The team lead made a similar statement when speaking at the SMX Advanced exposition in Seattle in June, saying that 99% of cases were reported.
Google regularly monitors its own search results, ensuring that low-quality sites that attempt to game the search engines algorithm do not end up ranking higher than the company believes they should. Thousands of sites are reviewed daily, either as part of normal quality policing or as a result of a report by a user or outside agency.
When a manual action is taken against a site, Google often informs the webmaster and explains the issue with the site (paid links, misleading content, etc.) and allows them to file a reconsideration request with the search giant. If the company makes amends in good faith the manual action can be removed.
JC Penney had a 90-day manual action rendered against them last year, after Google learned the site featured paid link, which are against Googles policies. After removing the link and submitting a reconsideration request, the penalty was eventually removed, which Cutts said was a tough and appropriate length.

New Jerseys Support for Sports Waging Cost It NCAA Games reports Bang The Book
(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 26, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and state lawmakers lambasted the NCAAs decision to relocate five championship competitions out of the state. The move comes after the state pushed to allow sports betting. The NCAA forbids betting to occur in states where championships are held. It argued that wagering, legal and illegal, is harmful to college athletes.
Michael Drewniak, Christies spokesperson, called the move ludicrous and hypocritical.
"The NCAA wants to penalize New Jersey for responsibly legalizing what occurs illegally every day in every state and often with the participation of organized crime," he said.
The New Jersey ruling would not allow betting on any college team based within New Jersey, or any college game that is played within the state.
State Senator Raymond Lesniak said New Jersey, not the NCAA, acted responsibly in regards to sports betting.
"The NCAA continually ignores the billions of dollars wagered illegally every year," he said in a statement issued Tuesday. "In New Jersey we're moving that betting from the back rooms, where organized crime controls the books, to out in the open, where it can be carefully regulated and monitored.
"The NCAA and the professional leagues can yell all they want about 'the integrity of sports,' but until they embrace policies to wipe out the illegal books, those are just words."
In the United States, only four states allow citizens to bet, but New Jersey voters and lawmakers were adamant in their push to allow such activity as early as January.
The 2001 measure passed with a 2-1 margin in agreement to allowing sports betting in Atlantic City casinos and the stats four horseracing tracks. Lawmakers were overwhelmingly in support of the legislation, and Gov. Christie took little time to sign the law into existence.
A 50-to-31% margin was in favor making sports betting legal, according to an Inquirer New Jersey poll. Another 48% supported sports wagering in general, with 31% opposing it.

Hong had sought out the treatment through a recommendation from her relatives. She began to notice acne after the second visit.
The beautician told me these were normal symptoms and to continue using the products they recommended, she stated at the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department.
Following the eighth session, the acne was so severe that Hong sought out a skin specialist. She said she was informed by the specialist that treatment would cost nearly RM8, 000. She was also informed there was possibility of permanent scarring.
Hong was told by the beauty center that her acne was a result of a hormone imbalance. Hong claimed she was not warned of any possible side effects before beginning treatment.
The beauty center refused reimbursement following the unfortunate results of the treatment, and Hong has since lodged a complaint with the police.
Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong advises other women to seek second opinions before partaking in beauty treatments.
