PCI Foundation Training Course will benefit merchant agents who are under pressure to become PCI DSS-compliant in order to to become listed as an approved Visa Merchant Agent.
Visa Europe has ruled that, beginning on December 31, 2012, banks should only allow merchants to use merchant agents that have proven their PCI compliance and been registered, on a list, by VISA Europe. Currently, there are 48 approved Visa Merchant Agents.
Alan Calder, CEO of IT Governance, says, 'The current number of VISA approved merchant agents raises the questions about the compliance status of all other existing merchant agents that are not yet on the list. The remaining four months can be just enough for merchant agents to meet the PCI DSS requirements, but they need to act now.'
The term 'agent' includes any entity that provides payment or payment-related services to merchants such as digital wallet providers, payment processors, shopping cart software solution providers, and web hosting companies. The definition now includes hosting companies, website development companies and virtually any other supplier that touches on a merchant's card processing activities.
Calder continues, 'Compliance with the PCI DSS standard requires the right knowledge and skills.
Organisations must train staff internally to deliver the project. The fastest way to achieve compliance, if you are doing it yourself, is to attend a PCI DSS training course which will enable the project team to develop an efficient and cost-effective plan for meeting these requirements on time.'
